The Conference Grant is administered by the Calgary Branch Board

The intent of this grant is to encourage ARMTA Calgary Branch members to attend the annual Music Conference Alberta (ARMTA is a co-host of MCA) and CFMTA National Conferences held in odd number years.

Recipients will be asked to provide an article to be published in Impromptu and posted on our website and social media. Please Include:

  • Your name
  • a few words about the conference (e.g. describe something that inspired or amazed you) in 100 words or less
  • a photograph taken at the conference

MCA (Music Conference Alberta) CFMTA (Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations) National Conferences
Preference will be given first to applicants who are attending the MCA conference for the first time, and second to those who have not benefitted from this grant in the previous two years. Preference will be given first to applicants who are attending a national conference for the first time, and second to those who have not benefitted from this grant in the previous three years.
Up to $1000 each year is available in even number years. Up to $1050 each conference year is available.
In non-CFMTA conference years, up to five Calgary Branch members attending MCA may receive up to $200 each. If there are more than 5 applicants, applications will be placed in a draw. Up to three CFMTA conference attendees may receive $350 each. If there are more than three applicants, applications will be placed in a draw.
Any balance may be awarded to MCA attendees in odd number years.
The application deadline is September 10 and is for the MCA conference that fall. The names of those receiving the grants will be announced by September 20. The application deadline is March 24 and is for the national conference the summer of the same year. The names of those receiving the grants will be announced by April 1.
Funds will be transferred to recipients after the conference and upon submission of the article, and a copy of the receipt for conference fees to the Branch Administrator by November 30.
