Located inside the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts
SCHEDULE
• 2:45 PM: Arrival and check in for piano solo masterclass
• 3:00 PM – 5:10 PM: Piano Solo Masterclass
◦ 3:00 – 3:30 PM: Two intermediate-level students (15 minutes each)
◦ 3:30 – 5:10 PM: Senior and ARCT-level students ( 4 students, each 20–30 minutes)
• 5:45 PM: Arrival and check in for chamber music masterclass
• 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Chamber Music Masterclass
◦ 4 groups in total (trio, quartet, or quintet)
◦ Each group will have a 30-minute session
Intermediate Level (RCM Level 5–8)
• 2 students, each receives 15 minutes with Jackie
• Suggested repertoire length: ~2 minutes
• Note: Intermediate students are encouraged to stay and observe Senior and ARCT students’ performances.
Senior Level (RCM Level 9–10)
• 2 students, each receives 20 minutes
• Suggested repertoire length: ~5 minutes
ARCT Level
• 2 students, each receives 30 minutes
• Suggested repertoire length: ~7 minutes
Chamber Music Masterclass
• Each group will perform one movement of a chamber work
• Suggested performance length per group: 5–8 minutes
• Estimated Number of Groups: 4 groups
• Each group receives: Approx. 30 minutes for performance and coaching
Join us for an exceptional masterclass with one of Canada’s most celebrated pianists! Honens Artistic Director Jon Kimura Parker (“Jackie”) is renowned worldwide for his brilliant artistry, warmth, and engaging teaching style. This masterclass is open to intermediate and advanced piano students, including ARCT level, and offers a rare opportunity for both solo pianists and chamber groups (piano with other instruments) to work directly with Jackie. Teachers, students, and the public are warmly invited to audit and observe.
