What is Music Marathon?
Music Marathon is an annual fundraising event which features performances by students of ARMTA Calgary Branch members. The event showcases the benefits of taking lessons from a registered music or speech arts teacher. It also provides students with an opportunity to share their music with the community at large.
Seven straight hours of music are provided by students of all levels of ability. Each student agrees to perform and collects pledges to support them for their portion of the marathon. Amazing prizes will be awarded to the students who collect the most pledges! Click the links at the bottom of this page to see what prizes have been given out in previous years.
The money raised goes to the Endowment Society of the Calgary Registered Music Teachers – the charitable society under the banner of ARMTA Calgary Branch. The mission of the Endowment Society is to raise money to fund the scholarship programs of the Calgary Branch. How does Music Marathon work?
Teachers sign up for a block of performance time. One block is 15 minutes. To fill the block, they are responsible for organizing their students’ performances. If one teacher can’t fill the entire 15 minute block, teachers may combine their studios to fill it.
Participating teachers must either attend the event or arrange for a designate to organize their students and introduce their performances. Teachers are asked to encourage their students to stay and support the other performers.
Performers should arrive at the venue 15 minutes prior to and stay 15 minutes after their scheduled block of time.

Participating teachers are strongly encouraged to volunteer at the event. More volunteers means shorter volunteer time!
Registration
Only ARMTA Calgary members may register. If any blocks of time are still open after registration, teachers will be advised and they may then request additional time.
The final performance schedule will be released once all blocks of time are filled.
Student Forms
Teachers will need to provide the Pledge Form and the Consent Form to the students/parents (see links above). Collect all completed forms and bring them to the event. The Pledge Forms, in particular need to make it to the event in order for students to qualify for prizes.
