2nd Annual (simplified)

DUAL EXCELLENCE TEENAGE SUPERSTAR AWARD

A competition for teenage students of ARMTA Calgary teachers who demonstrate commitment and excellence in two disciplines.

PRIMARY DISCIPLINE must be in music or speech arts and must be taught by an ARMTA Calgary Teacher
SECONDARY DISCIPLINE can be any other extracurricular activity that meets the requirements
ACTIVITY PERIOD Timeline during which both disciplines were studied

* Secondary discipline must be extracurricular, taking place outside of regular school hours

Examples of secondary disciplines include, but are not limited to: sports, art, dance, non-ARMTA taught music or speech arts
* Activities may be organized by the school, but training, competitions, and performances must take place outside of class time.

QUALIFICATIONS

1) Must be between the ages of 13 and 19 on August 31, 2025
2) * Activities must have taken place between September 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025
3) ARMTA discipline can be ANY grade level

  • Activities that take place outside of the activity period (Sept. 1, 2024 – Aug. 31, 2025) will not be considered.

ENTRY GUIDELINES

1) Must provide documentation outlined in “Rules & Regulations”
2) Must write a 200-300 word essay describing your dedication to your disciplines. Every essay must be original and written by that student alone. The quality of the writing will NOT be judged. 
3) Must submit a minimum of 2 photographs performing your favourite discipline (or submit one from each discipline)

RULES and REGULATIONS

ALL supporting documents must be uploaded. DO NOT send links.

Primary Discipline (ARMTA)

Must provide documentation of participation in an exam, festival, and/or public performances
     a.
EXAM Practical exam completion (e.g. RCM) of any grade level
     b. FESTIVAL Performed two (2) or more solo pieces at one of the local music festivals in Alberta with written adjudication 
     c. PUBLIC PERFORMANCE Performed in a minimum of four (4) organized public performances, performing at least two (2) different solo pieces across the performances.
 
NOTE: Students who participated in more than one of the above are encouraged to submit documents from all engagements.

Secondary Discipline
Must provide documentation of participation in Competitions, Tournaments, Exams, Performances, etc.

     a. Activities/training/practising must have been extracurricular and taken place outside of school hours.
     b. Must have been guided by an instructor or coach (cannot be self taught)

WINNERS and AWARDS

Prize Amounts

First place: $175

Second place: $150

Third place: $125

We will also hold 3 random draws for $50 each!

Random draws will be selected from students who do not win a prize

Winners to be notified by February 15th
